Mac Attack 9 - SING…. SING A SONG….

Say, hey, good lookin’
Whatcha got cookin’?
How’s about cookin’ something’ up with me?

Hey, sweet baby
Don’t you think maybe
We could find us a brand new recipe?

I got some egg whites perfectly aged
Some almonds and sugar and I’m not at all fazed
There’s chocolate or vanilla or whatever you please
Just tell me your preference, I’ll even do cheese !
So, hey, good lookin’
Whatcha got cookin’ ?
A few dozen perfect macarons….
- Hank Williams with some creative
rewording by the Mac Queen

Step into the kitchen and grab that jar of aged whites then flip on the radio. Baking is always more fun when the music is blaring, those good ol’ Golden Oldies or a a blast of rock n roll, the best sing-along pop, it all makes an afternoon spent making macarons more fun and lively. So now is the time to combine the two! Tie on that thinking cap and get those creativity juices flowing, for this month your Mac Attack challenge, if you are willing to accept it, is to take that favorite tune and bake it into a mac!

We know that you can cook up somethin’ spectacular ! Just let that favorite song inspire your choice of mac flavors or colors, from a Yellow Submarine to Goober Peas to Animal Crackers or Savoy Truffle, the list is endless and the choices are delicious! So, let’s cook up something special, something toe-tapping, sing-along good!

Come Friday night your appetite is needing satisfaction.
Best place I know for you to go and get some gratifaction
Hop a bus, take a train if you got no car start hitchin'
But don't you waste one minute, man get down to Rosie's kitchen
She adds spice, so nice. She's got them buttered scones
My tip - french dip. Make the meat drop off the bone
Where's Fred? bakin' bread! In the kitchen with Rosie
Where's Pete? poundin' meat! In the kitchen with Rosie
Where's Lou? gettin' stewed! In the kitchen with Rosie
When you get twitchin' Scratch your itchin'. Do some cookin'
In the kitchen with Rosie. In the kitchen with Rosie
Well her recipes are bound to please. Of that, there's no denyin'
Seal your fate with just one plate. Brother, I ain't lyin'
It's good advice, paradise is the spot that I'm pitchin'
Don't you waste one minute, man. Get down to Rosie's kitchen.
- Cadillac Moon

"MacAttack 8"... a round-up of the Wild Side!

Walking through forests of palm tree apartments
scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
down by the waterhole - drunk every Friday -
eating their nuts - saving their raisins for Sunday.
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows
they're fast but they're lazy and sleep in green meadows
Let's Bungle in the Jungle, well that's all right by me!
- Jethro Tull

This month, the Mac Passionate have walked on the wild side, down by the water, through dense curtains of leaves and risked life and limb on this terrifying, madcap adventure down on the Dark Continent. Armed with only beaters, spatulas and pastry bags, we have pushed our way through the jungle, facing danger all in the name of the hunt! And we've succeeded! We've captured, bagged and, yes, tamed the beast, turning something wild and wooly or, quite possibly, feathered, into the perfect macaron! Here is the round up: macarons inspired by the hunt of the wild beast! We've made it out of the jungle, out of the wilderness that is our kitchen, alive! We have done Tarzan proud!
